副題
神的孩子在基督裏被接納—全然是基督—
那些屬世的誇耀並非輕易失去，
更合宜的是寧肯不喪失那可稱頌的名，
藉祂得稱那聖者，全能的神，為我的父？
父啊！我們活在基督裏，基督在你裏面—
永恆的神，我們也是永遠。
天國的後嗣，今後我不再怕死：
在基督裏我活着！在基督裏我呼吸
那真生命！這樣，讓天，海，和地，
一起向我攻擊！在額前我展現
他們全能主的印記。他們儘管嘗試
結束我生命是徒然，那只結束我的悲哀。—
豈有死亡的床基督徒長臥不起？
是的！但不是他—是死亡的死。

God's Child in Christ adopted, — Christ my all, —
What the earth boasts were not lost cheaply, rather
Than forfeit that blest name, by which I call
The Holy One, the Almighty God, my Father?—
Father! in Christ we live, and Christ in Thee —
Eternal Thou, and everlasting we.
The heir of heaven, henceforth I fear not death:
In Christ I live! in Christ I draw the breath
Of the true life!— Let, then, earth, sea, and sky
Make war against me! On my front I show
Their mighty Master's seal. In vain they try
To end my life, that can but end its woe.—
Is that a deathbed where a Christian lies?—
Yes! but not his— 'tis Death itself that dies.
