| | 14:1 | 當下全會眾大聲喧嚷、那夜百姓都哭號。 | And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. |
| | 14:2 | 以色列眾人向摩西亞倫發怨言、全會眾對他們說、巴不得我們早死在埃及地、或是死在這曠野。 | And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! |
| | 14:3 | 耶和華為甚麼把我們領到那地、使我們倒在刀下呢．我們的妻子和孩子、必被擄掠、我們回埃及去豈不好麼。 | And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? |
| | 14:4 | 眾人彼此說、我們不如立一個首領、回埃及去罷。 | And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. |
| | 14:5 | 摩西亞倫就俯伏在以色列全會眾面前。 | Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. |
| | 14:6 | 窺探地的人中、嫩的兒子約書亞、和耶孚尼的兒子迦勒、撕裂衣服、 | And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: |
| | 14:7 | 對以色列全會眾說、我們所窺探經過之地、是極美之地。 | And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. |
| | 14:8 | 耶和華若喜悅我們、就必將我們領進那地、把地賜給我們、那地原是流奶與蜜之地。 | If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. |
| | 14:9 | 但你們不可背叛耶和華、也不要怕那地的居民、因為他們是我們的食物、並且蔭庇他們的已經離開他們、有耶和華與我們同在、不要怕他們。 | Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. |
| | 14:10 | 但全會眾說、拿石頭打死他們二人。忽然耶和華的榮光、在會幕中向以色列眾人顯現。 | But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel. |
| | 14:11 | 耶和華對摩西說、這百姓藐視我要到幾時呢、我在他們中間行了這一切神蹟、他們還不信我要到幾時呢。 | And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? |
| | 14:12 | 我要用瘟疫擊殺他們、使他們不得承受那地、叫你的後裔成為大國、比他們強勝。 | I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they. |
| | 14:13 | 摩西對耶和華說、埃及人必聽見這事、因為你曾施展大能、將這百姓從他們中間領上來。 | And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;) |
| | 14:14 | 埃及人要將這事傳給迦南地的居民、那民已經聽見你耶和華是在這百姓中間．因為你面對面被人看見、有你的雲彩停在他們以上、你日間在雲柱中、夜間在火柱中、在他們前面行。 | And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. |
| | 14:15 | 如今你若把這百姓殺了、如殺一人、那些聽見你名聲的列邦必議論說、 | Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, |
| | 14:16 | 耶和華因為不能把這百姓領進他向他們起誓應許之地、所以在曠野把他們殺了。 | Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. |
| | 14:17 | 現在求主大顯能力、照你所說過的話說、 | And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my LORD be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, |
| | 14:18 | 耶和華不輕易發怒、並有豐盛的慈愛、赦免罪孽和過犯、萬不以有罪的為無罪、必追討他的罪、自父及子、直到三、四代。 | The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. |
| | 14:19 | 求你照你的大慈愛、赦免這百姓的罪孽、好像你從埃及到如今、常赦免他們一樣。 | Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. |
| | 14:20 | 耶和華說、我照着你的話赦免了他們。 | And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word: |
| | 14:21 | 然我指着我的永生起誓、遍地要被我的榮耀充滿。 | But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. |
| | 14:22 | 這些人雖看見我的榮耀、和我在埃及與曠野所行的神蹟、仍然試探我這十次、不聽從我的話、 | Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; |
| | 14:23 | 他們斷不得看見我向他們的祖宗所起誓應許之地、凡藐視我的、一個也不得看見、 | Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: |
| | 14:24 | 惟獨我的僕人迦勒、因他另有一個心志、專一跟從我、我就把他領進他所去過的那地．他的後裔也必得那地為業。 | But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. |
| | 14:25 | 亞瑪力人和迦南人住在谷中、明天你們要轉回、從紅海的路往曠野去。 | (Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) Tomorrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea. |
| | 14:26 | 耶和華對摩西亞倫說、 | And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, |
| | 14:27 | 這惡會眾向我發怨言、我忍耐他們要到幾時呢、以色列人向我所發的怨言、我都聽見了。 | How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. |
| | 14:28 | 你們告訴他們、耶和華說、我指着我的永生起誓、我必要照你們達到我耳中的話待你們。 | Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: |
| | 14:29 | 你們的屍首必倒在這曠野、並且你們中間凡被數點、從二十歲以外向我發怨言的、 | Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, |
| | 14:30 | 必不得進我起誓應許叫你們住的那地、惟有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞、纔能進去。 | Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. |
| | 14:31 | 但你們的婦人孩子、就是你們所說、要被擄掠的、我必把他們領進去、他們就得知你們所厭棄的那地。 | But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. |
| | 14:32 | 至於你們、你們的屍首必倒在這曠野。 | But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. |
| | 14:33 | 你們的兒女必在曠野飄流四十年、擔當你們淫行的罪、直到你們的屍首在曠野消滅。 | And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. |
| | 14:34 | 按你們窺探那地的四十日、一年頂一日、你們要擔當罪孽四十年、就知道我與你們疏遠了。 | After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. |
| | 14:35 | 我耶和華說過、我總要這樣待這一切聚集敵我的惡會眾、他們必在這曠野消滅、在這裏死亡。 | I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die. |
| | 14:36 | 摩西所打發窺探那地的人回來、報那地的惡信、叫全會眾向摩西發怨言、 | And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land, |
| | 14:37 | 這些報惡信的人、都遭瘟疫、死在耶和華面前． | Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. |
| | 14:38 | 其中惟有嫩的兒子約書亞、和耶孚尼的兒子迦勒、仍然存活。 | But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still. |
| | 14:39 | 摩西將這些話告訴以色列眾人、他們就甚悲哀。 | And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly. |
| | 14:40 | 清早起來上山頂去、說、我們在這裏、我們有罪了、情願上耶和華所應許的地方去。 | And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned. |
| | 14:41 | 摩西說、你們為何違背耶和華的命令呢、這事不能順利了。 | And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. |
| | 14:42 | 不要上去、因為耶和華不在你們中間、恐怕你們被仇敵殺敗了。 | Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. |
| | 14:43 | 亞瑪力人、和迦南人、都在你們面前、你們必倒在刀下、因你們退回不跟從耶和華、所以他必不與你們同在。 | For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. |
| | 14:44 | 他們卻擅敢上山頂去、然而耶和華的約櫃和摩西、沒有出營。 | But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. |
| | 14:45 | 於是亞瑪力人、和住在那山上的迦南人、都下來擊打他們、把他們殺退了、直到何珥瑪。 | Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah. |
