| | 5:1 | 凡信耶穌是基督的、都是從 神而生．凡愛生他之 神的、也必愛從 神生的。 | Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. |
| | 5:2 | 我們若愛 神、又遵守他的誡命、從此就知道我們愛 神的兒女。 | By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. |
| | 5:3 | 我們遵守 神的誡命、這就是愛他了．並且他的誡命不是難守的。 | For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. |
| | 5:4 | 因為凡從 神生的、就勝過世界．使我們勝了世界的、就是我們的信心。 | For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. |
| | 5:5 | 勝過世界的是誰呢．不是那信耶穌是 神兒子的麼． | Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? |
| | 5:6 | 這藉着水和血而來的就是耶穌基督．不是單用水、乃是用水又用血。 | This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. |
| | 5:7 | 並且有聖靈作見證、因為聖靈就是真理。 | For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. |
| | 5:8 | 作見證的原來有三、就是聖靈、水、與血這三樣也都歸於一。 | And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. |
| | 5:9 | 我們既領受人的見證、 神的見證更該領受了．〔該領受原文作大〕因 神的見證、是為他兒子作的。 | If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. |
| | 5:10 | 信 神兒子的、就有這見證在他心裏．不信 神的、就是將 神當作說謊的．因不信 神為他兒子作的見證。 | He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. |
| | 5:11 | 這見證、就是 神賜給我們永生、這永生也是在他兒子裏面。 | And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| | 5:12 | 人有了 神的兒子就有生命．沒有 神的兒子就沒有生命。 | He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. |
| | 5:13 | 我將這些話寫給你們信奉 神兒子之名的人、要叫你們知道自己有永生。 | These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. |
| | 5:14 | 我們若照他的旨意求甚麼、他就聽我們．這是我們向他所存坦然無懼的心。 | And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: |
| | 5:15 | 既然知道他聽我們一切所求的、就知道我們所求於他的無不得着。 | And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
| | 5:16 | 人若看見弟兄犯了不至於死的罪、就當為他祈求、 神必將生命賜給他．有至於死的罪、我不說當為這罪祈求。 | If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. |
| | 5:17 | 凡不義的事都是罪．也有不至於死的罪。 | All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. |
| | 5:18 | 我們知道凡從 神生的必不犯罪．從 神生的必保守自己、〔有古卷作那從 神生的必保護他〕那惡者也就無法害他。 | We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. |
| | 5:19 | 我們知道我們是屬 神的、全世界都臥在那惡者手下。 | And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. |
| | 5:20 | 我們也知道 神的兒子已經來到、且將智慧賜給我們、使我們認識那位真實的、我們也在那位真實的裏面、就是在他兒子耶穌基督裏面。這是真 神、也是永生。 | And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. |
| | 5:21 | 小子們哪、你們要自守、遠避偶像。 | Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. |
