| | 40:1 | 耶和華又對約伯說、 | Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said, |
| | 40:2 | 強辯的、豈可與全能者爭論麼．與 神辯駁的、可以回答這些罷。 | Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it. |
| | 40:3 | 於是約伯回答耶和華說、 | Then Job answered the LORD, and said, |
| | 40:4 | 我是卑賤的．我用甚麼回答你呢．只好用手摀口。 | Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. |
| | 40:5 | 我說了一次、再不回答．說了兩次、就不再說。 | Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further. |
| | 40:6 | 於是耶和華從旋風中回答約伯、說、 | Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said, |
| | 40:7 | 你要如勇士束腰．我問你、你可以指示我。 | Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. |
| | 40:8 | 你豈可廢棄我所擬定的．豈可定我有罪、好顯自己為義麼。 | Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? |
| | 40:9 | 你有 神那樣的膀臂麼．你能像他發雷聲麼。 | Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? |
| | 40:10 | 你要以榮耀莊嚴為妝飾、以尊榮威嚴為衣服． | Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. |
| | 40:11 | 要發出你滿溢的怒氣、見一切驕傲的人、使他降卑． | Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. |
| | 40:12 | 見一切驕傲的人、將他制伏、把惡人踐踏在本處． | Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. |
| | 40:13 | 將他們一同隱藏在塵土中、把他們的臉蒙蔽在隱密處． | Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret. |
| | 40:14 | 我就認你右手能以救自己。 | Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee. |
| | 40:15 | 你且觀看河馬．我造你也造他．他喫草與牛一樣。 | Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. |
| | 40:16 | 他的氣力在腰間、能力在肚腹的筋上。 | Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. |
| | 40:17 | 他搖動尾巴如香柏樹．他大腿的筋互相聯絡。 | He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. |
| | 40:18 | 他的骨頭好像銅管．他的肢體彷彿鐵棍。 | His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. |
| | 40:19 | 他在 神所造的物中為首．創造他的給他刀劍。 | He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. |
| | 40:20 | 諸山給他出食物、也是百獸遊玩之處。 | Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play. |
| | 40:21 | 他伏在蓮葉之下、臥在蘆葦隱密處、和水窪子裏。 | He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. |
| | 40:22 | 蓮葉的陰涼遮蔽他、溪旁的柳樹環繞他。 | The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. |
| | 40:23 | 河水氾濫、他不發戰、就是約但河的水漲到他口邊、也是安然。 | Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. |
| | 40:24 | 在他防備的時候誰能捉拿他、誰能牢籠他穿他的鼻子呢。 | He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares. |
